New Apple charging box?

I purchased my son a new iPhone for Christmas. I was very surprised to see this new cord that came with it. Even more surprised or should I say disappointed to see it did not include a charging box. I own many apple charging boxes so not a huge deal there. But not for this specific charging cord. What is going on?? Now I have to head out and find this box. Since when doesn’t it come with your (expensive) purchase? Super disappointed.
