How to get audio from MacBook Air M1 to 4K HDMI TV?

I have a new MacBook Air M1. I have a Vizio 4K UHD TV with HDMI inputs. I want to play video AND audio from the MacBook Air to the TV.

Old set up 2015 MacBook Pro <> Thunderbolt 2 Cable <> OWC Thunderbolt 2 Dock OWCTB2DOCK12P <> HDMI Cable <> Vizio 4K TV --- Video and sound, worked great.

Bought MacBook Air M1 & Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter.

MacBook Air M1 <> Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter <> Thunderbolt 2 Cable <> OWC Thunderbolt 2 Dock OWCTB2DOCK12P <> HDMI Cable <> TV --- Video, no sound from TV. New components are the new MacBook Air M1 and the Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter. V405-H9 shows up in Sound Output preferences panel, but when it is selected, silence, no audio. Feedback from OWC is that Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter is largely incompatible with the dock.

Back to the online store. Bought Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter.

MacBook Air M1 <> Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter. <> HDMI Cable <> TV --- Video, no sound from TV. This should work! I had slim hopes for the Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter, but I really thought this would work. No luck.

Back to online shopping. Bought j5create USB-C to 4K HDMI cable.

MacBook Air M1 <> j5create USB-C to 4K HDMI cable <> TV --- Video, no sound from TV.

One sound workaround, The TV supports Airplay input. Select Family Room TV on the Sound Output preferences panel, the TV switches to Airplay input and plays sound beautifully. Switch input back to HDMI 1 to get video and the sound goes away.

I love the MacBook Air M1's performance as a stand alone notebook, but with the two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports I'm in dongle ****. Is there anyway to get audio and video from it to my TV?

I'm considering buying:

and selling my old Thunderbolt 2 dock on eBay, but after my earlier device fails I'm hesitant to throw $240 more at the problem until I hear of someone with this working.

The headphone jack on the Air M1 works with my headphones at least.

Any other suggestions?

This purchase worked:

I have sound from my MacBook Air M1 to my 4K TV now. :)

Only gripe, I wish the included cable (0.7m/2.3ft) was longer. On the other hand, it appears that this is the longest length for a full speed passive Thunderbolt 3 cable. Longer lengths need a more expensive active cable.

I don't think it's the HDMI Cable. I have a 3' cable and a 6' cable. The 3' cable worked with the old MacBook Pro - dock - TV setup. The 6' cable is a brand new HDMI high speed 4K cable from Target. I've tried each one in each of the setups described in the first post (except for the one using a USB-C to HDMI cable which is the only cable between the computer and TV).
