I bought an iPad from an older gentleman that said he wasn’t sure how to unlock it and didn’t know the Apple ID or password anymore. I have an email saying I bought the IPad from him but that’s all the proof I have. Can Apple lift the lock?
Tell the seller to use Apple's iForgot service, or contact their Account Security team, or give you a refund. Apple will generally only accept the original purchase receipt; the activation lock is an anti-theft measure.
