Transferring old macbook info to new macbook pro via Migration Assistant/iCloud

I have been trying to transfer my information from my old mac to my new mac using Migration assistant and it has taken over 6 hours. On my new mac the screen says "starting up". Should I trust that this process is working? Or should I start over?

Migrate from old Mac to new Mac with trade in If I am trading in my old Mac for a new Mac how do I capture all my data, wipe my old Mac, and send it in before receiving my new Mac and then once I receive it, load all my data?
