It keeps telling me to update payment information but I don’t have cards or anything and I’m trying to download Snapchat which is a free app

Unless you see a NONE option in the payment methods in your account details, you need to have a payment method for paid & free content.
Buy an iTunes gift card and redeem that as your payment method.
