Is there a Big Sur driver for the Epson Stylus Pro 3880?

I am anticipating moving to Big Sur from Catalina. I do not find an Epson driver for the 3880 on the Epson site. Does anyone know if the 3880 will work with Big Sur?

Epson just released a driver on 2020-11-20 for this printer. It is listed under Catalina 10.15, but should also be valid for Big Sur, as they show no Big Sur support yet. If it is for Catalina, then it is a 64-bit driver.

After you install the preceding driver, and with the device powered and connected to your Mac (wired/wireless/etc.), right-click on the printer's entry on the System Preferences : Printers & Scanners panel, and choose Reset print system… . This will run you through re-adding the device, and be certain to select the correct driver entry before re-adding it. Once it is back in the Printers panel, right-click on it again, and set to Default printer. Print something.

Hello again,

At https://www.epson.eu/viewcon/corporatesite/kb/index/1018, compatibility information can be found under Large Format Printers ->A2 -> Stylus Pro 3880, but only if you choose macOS 10.15 Catalina.

Of course, if you see a message about a USB problem (which seems to affect some newer computers), the logical approach would be to choose a network connection instead (via Ethernet for the 3880).

Reports for other printer models indicate that resetting the printing system and re-adding the printer can be important (links above). Also see the first message by VikingOSX.

Everything regarding Big Sur would be experimental until the printer manufacturer makes a new driver available.

If you cannot wait, you may want to check the support pages and test various Big Sur drivers for other models (SureColor, Stylus Photo, et cetera?). A driver v10.85 appears to have been the key in many cases, but the 3880 is different, so do not expect too much from this.

Anyway, good luck!
