MagSafe case interferes with cars wireless charger

I got the new iPhone 12 with MagSafe cover. It is driving me nuts in my car. I have a wireless charger that goes on and off about every minute. I’ve tried realignment of phone- didn’t help.

I took the apple MagSafe cover off snd it seems to have been the problem.

I don’t advise getting a MagSafe cover if you have a wireless charger pad in your car. I’ve called Apple, ATT AND FORD. No one could give advise on this problem but it’s quite annoying while driving

Ok Apple called back. The new iPhone 12 is not compatible with the cars wireless charger. ( 2018 Ford Expedition). It probably won't work on other cars with wireless chargers. There should be adapter but, Not for quite a while. So since I can't use my phone if it's on the pad - I'm returning iPhone 12 and going back to 11

More than likely what is happening is that the pad in the Ford is not lining up the same with the charging ring on the iPhone 12. If it not lining up correctly then the charging will not work correctly. I doubt that the charging pad in the Ford was designed for the MagSafe charging on the iPhone 12, it is just a Qi compatible charger. I rented a vehicle that had a charging pad in it and it wouldn't line up correctly with my iPhone 11 Pro in the past. I had to take the time to work at lining up the phone with the pad when I first got in the car to get it to charge correctly. I don't know that you will get any relief as far as that goes. But I can tell you right off that AT&T won't have anything to do with it.

I had an iPhone 11- no problems- but this 12 is mini and you can feel when it is on the pad in the correct spot. I seem to be ok without the cover as I have put a down to align it to the right spot- but as soon as I put the MagSafe cover on-it stops charging. I think the magnet in the case causes the charger to think something is between the phone and charger.

It could also have something to do with the fact the charger in the car is not not designed as a MagSafe charger. I don't have a MagSafe case, so I cannot test that against the Qi wireless charger I have at home, but you can contact Apple Support to ask them. Not all 3rd party devices are designed to work with all iPhone configurations. See what Apple has to say.
