Macrumors site problem with Catalina and Safari 14.0.1

I and several other people are having this strange behavior with the macrumors site, When using Safari 14.0.1 under Catalina it will either produce triangle like graphics or drop characters. So far it has only been reported there on iMacs and we are being told it is a hardware problem. I doubt this for the following reasons.

1) It only happens with Catalina and Safari 14.x; ie Chrome and Firefox are unaffected

2) While Apple has had problems with Safari 14 in the past though it effected many Macs not just a select few

3) It only happens with Macrumors - no other website.

4) It only occurs a fraction of the time.

Certainly if it was a hardware problem than this behavior would appear on at least one other website but so far it only happens with MacRumors. The 'it a hardware glitch' also fails to explain why Chrome and Firefox are unaffected.
