4K monitor for my late 2013 Mac Pro

I've been looking to replace my old 17" thunderbolt 2.5Kx1.4K resolution monitor with something with better resolution. In looking at the specs, it seems as if the Thunderbolt 2 port on my Mac Pro will support mini display port output and a 4K monitor. My question is: can I then connect this to a mini-display port to display port adaptor to give me a larger selection of monitors? Thanks!

Yes.

Conversion from Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort is just a re-wire, not an actual conversion.

Nothing will be "lost in translation".
