I'm having the same issue as you. I ordered the iMac and had it for about 3 days. I thought the noise was my plugged in external hard drive but the sound still remained when I ejected and removed the drive. I already tried the SMC reset and it didn't work. I still hear that strange rattling noise. My boyfriend has an iMac from 2019 and his doesn't make this noise. I've used 7 different MacBooks the past 5 years and all of them are mostly silent too. Have you found a solution to your issue? I was trying to find solutions for this but no one has a real answer to it and I really don't want to go through the hassle of returning this and buying another one.
