HDMI Issues on M1 Mac Mini

I just got the new M1 Mac Mini and it seems to have some HDMI connectivity issues. It is connected to a TV, but the issue persists if I connect it to different HDMI sources too (with different cables). When it first boots up it's fine, but if I leave it for a while then come back to it, the TV/ monitor detects no input. I touch the mouse/keyboard but it doesn't wake up. But bizarrely if I use the screensharing Mac app, or Teamviewer, I can see the active Mac on a different computer. Sometimes I am able to fully control it, and other times it just displays the screensaver and I can't get out of it.

A hard reset fixes the issue temporarily, but it seems to keep happening.

Any ideas?!

Disable sleep, non-feature for later Macs. System Preferences > Energy > Check “Prevent...”
Connect direct HDMI-HDMI, avoid dongles/adapters
Return window expires quickly, decide soon

I had a similar problem after replacing my 2013 Mac Mini last week for a new M1 Mac Mini. The original HDMI cable would only work with a usb c to HDMI adapter but not on the internal HDMI. Tried all kinds of fixes but today after switching to a newer Monster HDMI cable it's seems to be working just fine. Hope that helps...

I have a similar issue, got my Mini 3 weeks ago, it goes sleep and then it not bring the video back. Using HDMI port with 3 different 2.0 HDMI cables and using USB adapter.

In order to work, I have to force the power and then I'll get the video again.

Cables length, .5 meter (1.6 foot), 1 meter (3.29 foot) and 3 meter one (9.8 foot)

It happens 4 times and I'm considering return it.

I personally never experience some many falls on a Mac right of the box and I'm concerned about it.

Last time a had problem was with a iBook g3 2003 video issues.

I am on Big Sur 11.2.1

Same issue here. Just took delivery of Mac mini M1 to replace late 2012 Mac mini, and Samsung E2420L monitor with HDMI to DVI cable that worked fine with older mini is not recognized by new one. Given that mini's are intended to be connected to a wide variety of monitors, this is a face plant right out of the gate.

this is not a direct reply to your issue--however Mac Mini Intels 2018 and earlier have HDMI connectivity issues when updated to Big Sur--not intermittent post boot-up but no display recognition at all--but could be a related Big Sur issue.

Thanks for the reply - I've tried two different HDMI cables on the TV, and tried plugging the mini into an Atomos monitor that I had to hand and none of them were working without a restart.
