Getting original photo off iPhone to Mac

1) If I import a photo from my iPhone into 'Photos App (Mac Systems Photo Library), how do I know I've got the original photo? Is there an icon or some way to tell me in 'Get Info' for instance?

2) Is it a copy only left on my iPhone?

3) Which option do I choose in 'Settings' on my phone in 'Transfer to Mac or PC': 'Automatic' or 'Keep Originals'?

4) What exactly does 'Keep Originals' mean? Where are the originals kept if you select this option?

Hi

When you import from the phone, the unchanged file is always left on your phone. The copy transferred to your mac will be an exact copy of this (No different from the original),

Except - if you choose automatic, and your mac cant use the format created by your phone.

Automatic/keep originals

Automatic will convert the files to a jpg format recognised by your mac (if your mac has an older version of MacOS it might not be able to use the HEIC format which is now the default for iphone)

Keep originals will always copy the file exactly as it is to the phone - even if the mac can't use them.
