iTunes won't recognize my iPhone x
I'm locked out of my iPhone and I'm trying to restore it and then back it up to the latest backup, iTunes won't recognize my iPhone at all. please help, been at it for hours!

Did you perform the correct gestures while connecting it to your computer? See points #1 & #2 at section "Remove the passcode on iPhone X or later..." in this support guide:--> If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support
Is your iTunes updated on your Mac?
