Network Utility

Since, for some reason, Apple deprecated the Network Utility app, how can I not check and verify the various Internet connections, ports, routing, etc?

The app was a user friendly basic app that should be restored.

Thanks for any feedback.

Thanks for pointing that out.

For now, it looks like you could use the Terminal for some things, really geeky though.

I see these "Network Utility" commands available in Terminal

netstat -- show network status

ping -- send ICMP ECHO_REQUEST packets to network hosts

traceroute -- print the route packets take to network host

whois -- Internet domain name and network number directory service

finger -- user information lookup program

Use the man [manual] command to see details: "man netstat", "man ping"…

and to see other network commands in Terminal that may be of interest, try

apropos network

Barring that, I would search the App Store to see if there are replacement Apps that work for you.
