Screen has a mind of its own...

My iPhone XR has been opening/closing apps, scrolling, and typing on it's own without me even touching the screen. All the youtubing and googling I've been doing has only produced a couple of options: update the ios and hard reset the phone (I've done both) but the problem persists. I still have a year or so before I am due to upgrade... any suggestions on how to fix this??? Thanks!

iPhone XR, iOS 14

Hello Crazywilly24,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities, and it sounds like there are issues with the screen responding on its own. We'll do what we can to help.

You might try the remaining steps here you haven't done yourself already: If the screen isn’t working on your iPhone or iPad

If you're still having issues, it's most likely related to hardware. Here are the options for service: iPhone Repair - Official Apple Support

Thanks, and enjoy your day!
