Will a USB Type C-to-USB Type A Charge-and-Sync Cable transfer data between my new Mac Pro and a 2012 MAC air?

I need to migrate data from two MAC's and review the files as I move them over to my new Mac Pro. Will a USB Type C-to-USB Type A Charge-and-Sync Cable transfer data between my new Mac Pro and my older 2012 MAC's?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.14

No, USB-C to -A won't work. Macs from 2012 have Thunderbolt 1/2, so you'd need Apple's Thunderbolt 3 to -2 adapter and a Thunderbolt 1/2 cable. Or just use Migration Assistant over Wi-Fi.
