USB C to headphone jack 3.5 adapter is not working

My USB C to headphone jack 3.5 adapter is not working , my earphones are new. The adapter worked well with my old earphones. And both of my earphones are apple’s. What should I do?

Use Apple headphones with your iPhone, iPad, and iPod

If your headphones don‘t work with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
