Are you creating the new email account on a browser? If so when it is set up can you sign back into the email account on the browser with that password?

If you can, then there is no reason why you cannot add it to an iPhone or I{Pad in Settings, Mail, Accounts (iOS14) and on the Mac in System Preferences, Internet Accounts.

What you cannot do easily is change the password. You need to remove the account from the Mac or iPhone accounts and add it back.

Nor can you use the Mail apps to create a new account. Use the Mac Browser.

I understood you were adding the account to mac mail but you now suggest the account is already in mail but asking for the new password.

So have you recently changed email password in Go Daddy while the account is in mac Mail? If so, deleting the account and adding it back is the only way. You can try and update the password for ever, it will ignore you. Been doing it for years.

btw have you/they you recently added two stage authentication to the account?

IF these are Microsoft accounts and IF it has had 2 factor auth added then there are two ways to associate the account with an app.

  1. You add the account in the normal way, then your authenticator app on the phone bursts into life and asks you to approve the addition. Yes or No. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/user-help/multi-factor-authentication-end-user-manage-settings. or
  2. You have to open the Microsoft account in a browser and in the security tab create an app specific one-time temporary password and use that instead.

Without understanding GoDaddy accounts I don't know if either apply to you. GoDaddy support team should get back to you if you open a support ticket.

I have a feeling this is the problem , someone along the line suggested a few days ago to download the app for 'Authenticator' ,we tried removing it then putting it back on the iphone but could it be, that somehow we have been locked into it? it does not seem to work anyway ,it throws up codes but my mac desktop does not ask for any codes at all. -Baffled !
