ipad air 2020 folio (note - no selection for this device yet)
Less of a question and more of a quality and design concern.
The design of this folio lacks a reasonable protective design. The magnet isn’t strong enough to retain the very expensive device within if any motion is less than gentle. The open side design allows for dangerous if not catastrophic slipping and lacks any consideration for impact, even minimal bumps against surfaces during normal handling. Everyone has accidental gripping issues, slipping ipad, laptop, phone etc. so even a reasonable consideration for human use apparently was completely disregarded.
The cover essentially protects the back and front only and poorly at that due to weak magnet strength, as the sides are entirely open and flush. If the intent was to accommodate the pencil, fine, however i would prefer damaging a $120 pencil vs. a $1000 ipad any day. Even then, every (apple) cover i have purchased for all ipads and phones since the introduction of these things has always had side and corner protection. For a company that prides itself on design, form, and usage - this thing is a pretty **** poor product. I ended up buying a Speck for $20 (after the $80 paid for this thing) which incorporates the design that Apple failed to consider or really didn’t care.
The price for the thing is also ridiculous. I was extremely disappointed in the product and was not able to return it because of the 14 day limit. (Before the peanut gallery chimes in - for various reasons - let’s assume life)
Also, i am completely enclosed in the Apple ecosystem and have been since 1995. I still run the same 2011 MBP, as well as multiple devices for myself and my family. (Again, for the consumption of the peanut gallery)
Just disappointed.
