How do I turn on an accessory at a time of my choice?

In the Home app, go to Automation and tap "Create New Automation". Select "At Time of Day Occurs" for when you want the automation to begin.

Perfect 🤩 🙏

I guess the nature of automation makes them unsuited to work with Siri but the Siri “can’t schedule commands“ reply could suggest your solution instead!

I agree. It surely would be nice if you could say, "Siri, turn on the lights every night at 9pm". I think I will submit that feedback to Apple.
