Restoring Timemachine Aperture Lubrary

iMac Hard Drive crashed. Aperture library file on 4T Timemachine backup is locked and prompts for repair permission. Don’t want to lose my (jpeg, tiff) photos. Wouldn’t mind importing to iPhotos.

Fyi, my laptop has Catalina installed.

How do I proceed to save photo library. What do I ask a certified Apple repair person to do, if needed.

Photo exporting error/Seagate backup permissions Hi. Can someone please please PLEASE help me. I recently upgrade (3 days ago) my iMac desktop to Mojave. I am busy sorting my photos and I want to export them to my external hard drive (Seagate Backup Plus Drive) but I am getting the following error. I had a look at the permissions on my Seagate Backup and it has contradictory permissions: It states I have only read permissions but under my (or rather my husband's name: wersteyn) the permission is read &write. When I unlock the lock and try to change the permission settings but I unable to as it still states that I do not have permission to do so. See screenshots below... I read the discussions similar to this but I do not have the "ignore permissions" tick box as can be seen in the screenshots above. Prior to upgrading to Mojave, I was able to use this backup hard drive to export all my photos. I made a backup of my computer on another external hard drive (WD My passport ultra). The Seagate hard drive is purely for photos and videos of my children, husband and family members. Please can you please help me! Kind regards Ola

Mac OS Monterey and previous systems keeps denying me access to my files Purchased my iMac new from Apple couple of years ago but I keep being denied access to photography files. Below id the typical message I receive: Cannot access the file/folder. Please make sure that: - it is not write-protected. - you have access privileges. - the file is not currently in use. I then try to access the file using finder and click on Info to change settings: Click on Read only to change to Read and Write but it will not allow me to do this. When I try to click on the Padlock before the above it will nit allow me to do this either. The software I am Using is Nikon and Photo mechanic and they will not allow me to change access either so I suspect the problem is the underlying iMac OS. Can anyone help?

I can select the library. But then get a notification that it is locked and am prompted to permit repairs.

I selected that option on smaller (not so important) library but that didn’t bring me closer to a solution. Still inaccessible.

Don’t mind importing library into photos. May not have enough memory, but could overcome that problem.

Also, I am now accessing the (Seagate) Timemachine backup on a laptop, and I don’t have Aperture installed on it. That program lives on my iMac - it’s hard drive crashed. Not sure if that comes into play. I can access all other files, but the Aperture library.

Have you tried entering Time Machine and using the timeline to go back to your preferred date, selecting the library and restoring?

Once restored you can simply open the Library with Photos. Neither Aperture nor iPhoto run on Catalina
