Canon copier doesn't sync with Big Sur. Help!

I updated my 2017 MacBook Pro to Big Sur, and I have lost the capability to print to our Canon imageRunner 1435. I cannot even download the drivers, though it tells me the download was successful. Help! I can print to the hp 8710 with no problems. Sigh. I am such a technoDinosaur!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.0

The Canon ImageRunner 1435 is compatible with Apple's AirPrint built into Big Sur.

With the IR1435 powered and wired/wireless connected to the network, visit System Preferences : Printers & Scanners panel, right-click on the IR1435 icon, and select Reset Print System… . This will take you through re-adding the device, and instead of Canon drivers, choose AirPrint instead, and re-add the device. Right-click on it again, and choose Make default (if it is) printer. Print something. There may be other features now present on the Printer's & Scanners panel from AirPrint that give access to other features of the IR1435.

Thank you VikingOSX. I am appreciative of your experience and aid.

I have tried it twice, now, and no luck.

1) I am not given the option to use AirPrint. I have tried installing the driver from Canon, but it disappears!

2) I cannot find it after I go through the installation process. I am not sure where else to look.

This is the first issue I have ever had with an upgrade. I know just enough to get me into trouble...and not nearly enough to know how to dig my way out!

What could I be doing wrong?
