How to register more than 3 fingerprints?

Dear,

I recently bought a MacBook Pro after many years on Windows and Linux.

While I was registering my fingerprints, I apparently reached the maximum of registered fingerprints, 3.

On my Android phone, I currently have 5 registered fingerprints. I don't really understand this limitation on my Mac.

I looked a bit on Google and found some tricky solutions proposing registering multiple fingerprints as one... See:

These solutions are obviously not valid in term of security.

Could you please share with me a solution to register more than 3 fingerprints on my Mac?

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards,

Alexis

But, but, but, ..

the typical way Apple expects that to be used is used is to have up to three stored PER USER ACCOUNT, and for your spouse to have their own user account, which could ALSO have up to three stored for your spouse's account as well.

"For emergency use" of YOUR account, you spouse could enter the passcode.

MacOS is inherently a Multiple Users system, and that does not change if you choose to set up only one account and use it for all users. The features are there, ready for you to take advantage of.

Yes, yes, yes!

I also have more than three fingers.

The work that I do involves using the MacBook in a lot of locations, and while doing various other things.

I use my thumb when I'm working on my lap/standing, index at a desk, and middle when the computer is not directly in front of me.

So when I need to unlock the computer left-handedly, because the computer is on that side, or my right hand is trying to fix or hold something, I have to type in the password. It is such a pain!

Limiting to three fingerprints assumes a very static, desk-based use of the computer. Leave that for desktops!

10 fingers, please!

Also, I use the fingers of my 2 hands to connect to my computer and I want to give my wife the possibility to quickly connect to my computer when she needs it.
