How many Touch ID fingerprints can we have?

I'm needing to know how many fingerprints we can enroll with Touch ID on MacOS (as of Big Sur 11.4).

(M1 MacBook Air in case that matters)

Thanks.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.4

I believe the limit is 3—total stored limit 5.

Set up Touch ID

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Touch ID.
  2. Click “Add Fingerprint,” enter your password, then follow the onscreen instructions.
  3. You can add up to three fingerprints to your user account (your Mac can store up to five fingerprints total).
