Light on power cord stays amber

My MacBook Pro's battery is fully charged, but the light on the cord remains amber … for days and days. Any idea why?

However, the light has gone back to green all by itself! :-)

Would you have any insights about my other two questions? I haven't made any progress on either of those.

Actually, I'm about to add another question, so I'll have three questions outstanding.
