iCloud password works on phone but not Mac.

My iCloud password works for Messages on my phone but not my Mac. I get this message: Could not sign in to iMessage. It says to check the network connection.

iMessage corrupt and not syncing I can't get my new Mac to sync with iCloud. I followed best practices and signed out of iMessage on my iPhone and Mac. When I go to sign back in, in iMessage on the Mac, it says either my account name or password is incorrect. I am signed in to iCloud with those credentials through the system preferences and browser, it is only the iMessage application that doesn't recognize my credentials. I am connected on my phone. The devices show up. The browser is trusted. I have backups on my phone and computer. I would like to have my message history on my phone. If it is corrupt, I may just have to lose it and begin from scratch, resetting all passwords, etc. This is a bummer.
