Of course, we know that Apple is not doing this; it is being done by cellular carriers, to help diminish spam and fraudulent ID number (mobile) calls.
However, it does affect Apple iPhone (and other mobile phone) users. Because Apple has intimate ties to at least some carriers, and because its iOS designs hopefully should properly interface with all of them, I remain optimistic that this issue can be analyzed, understood, and corrected. I first observed it yesterday, on 02 December 2020 on my new iPhone SE, iOS 14.2, with a caller ID at her number, who is also using a relatively new iPhone. The iOS of the latter is not yet known to me. Thanks again. Best, Bob.
