Installing Rosetta 2 on this system is not supported.
I cannot install Rosetta 2 on My MBA M1. When I run the command:
/usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license
I got this: "Installing Rosetta 2 on this system is not supported."

Maybe "Open with Rosetta" is checked.I'm using iTerm2 and ran into the same error, but unchecked it worked fine.
You should not need to use terminal. When you launch a program that requires Rosetta it will ask you to install automatically.
I have a new MacBook air M1 and installed some intel apps but it doesn't appear the check box for rosetta... and I can't install rosetta... neither any intel app installed ask me to do it... the apps don't work...
It does not give me the option anywhere and when I right click on the application for "get info" I see this.. the option where it should say "Open in Low Resolution" or " Rosetta" does not include both options.
If I try simply to open the application, I get this... and no matter how many times I try, I am unable to open the program.. This happens with other applications as well such as the download to run the PreSonus Studio24C interface for my condenser mic. The Rosetta option simply does not show up. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
I have the same issue with the Logitech G HUB software. No Rosetta 2 checkbox, never asked if I wanted to install Rosetta 2. I am shocked that Logitech’s software for camera, mic and keyboard doesn’t run, particularly on a machine that doesn’t come with a camera, mic or keyboard. BTW, I’m in Canada and can’t imagine that Rosetta is blocked here.
Apple, please tell us how we can use Rosetta on our new Apple M1 chips as intended!
I have the same issue - same info display too. There is no tick box to install rosetta and the terminal command softwareupdate –install-rosetta flags a command usage error.
I think, on day one, I clicked a 'don't install Rosetta' popup option - and now I can't.
Yes this is exactly what has been happening to me too! I don't remember ever being presented with the option to install Rosetta 2 and I just found out that all my Native Instrument and Roli plugins supposedly require it. They opened up fine when I first downloaded them a few weeks ago onto my new M1 MacBook Pro, but now Logic keeps crashing on me as soon as I open it.
I tried installing through the Terminal App but it also keeps saying ""Installing Rosetta 2 on this system is not supported."
Not sure what else to try, so any help is much appreciated! Thanks!
Are you sure the app is Big Sur compatible? Applications that require Rosetta will offer that option when first installing. I would check with manufacture of the app for compatibility.
Hola, tengo el mismo problema, ¿ya lo resolviste?, saludos.
