What is SafariBookmarksSyncer.plist?

EtreCheck says I have the following unsigned file that is launched.

Launchd Files

Launchd script: ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.SafariBookmarksSyncer.plist

Executable: /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/SafariSyncClient.app/Contents/MacOS/SafariSyncClient --sync com.apple.Safari --entitynames com.apple.bookmarks.Bookmark,com.apple.bookmarks.Folde

I'm trying to determine what is slowing my wife's computer.

Mac mini, macOS 10.14

As for your question of “What is [this]?”

That is the principle process used, by Safari, to synchronize bookmarks (and history) across different instances of Safari linked to the same Apple ID.

It only tends to be active when different instances get out of sync.

(I saw one person where this process—syncd—was highly active, under Big Sur. Then the user admitted to wiping his/her history on another device.)

While EtreCheck can be helpful for many things, I find Activity Monitor—with the view set to All Processes (I usually choose this with “Hierarchically”, so I can see what processes various subprocesses are associated with)—to be of greatest help, if the problem is software activity related.

While I’m a little surprised that Safari component is “unsigned”, I expect EtreCheck checked it against known code and gave it a “Probably OK”.
