Bluetooth pairing lists AV receiver as headphone, not speaker

I have been able to pair my Pioneer VSX-932 with iOS devices with no problem for over a year, playing music from my iPhone through our AV/speaker system.

Today, though, I tried to do the same and no sound output. So I removed my AV receiver (forget this device) and re-paired, and now my iPhone only recognizes the Pioneer receiver as "headphones" - not "speakers & TVs" - when I try to airplay music to the AV system.

Is there any way to fix the listing of my AV receiver to "speakers & TVs"? Not sure if this is why there's no sound, but nothing works so far (even when trying to forget & re-pair through the AV system)

Hello RSibaja,

We understand that your iPhone is able to connect with your receiver but does not play audio. Are you able to play sound through this receiver using another source such as another phone or computer? Are you able to connect your iPhone another device such as headphones or a Bluetooth speaker and play sound?

If both your iPhone and Pioneer receiver are working properly with other devices, try the troubleshooting steps from If AirPlay or screen mirroring isn't working on your device which can resolve most AirPlay issues.

Have a great day!
