Does Apple Watch need to have its own phone number

Does Apple Watch need a separated phone number other than number used by paired iPhone? Or just one phone number will be enough to link my iPhone and Apple Watch?

It will share a number with your iPhone but it will be assigned a phone number by your carrier for billing purposes.
