Capitalize words automatically doesn't work in Mail.

I have the System Preferences / Keyboard / Text setting enabled to capitalize words automatically. It works generally, but not in the body of a Mail message. (It works in the subject field, and in every other app I've checked.) It works on my wife's MacBook Air (same macOS and Mail versions). I've checked other posts on this issue, and there are only some comments about it possibly being related to one's account. But has anybody found a fix for this? Thanks!

Before I posted, I tested in Mail for Big Sur 11.0.1 on an M1 mini.

The auto-capitalize did not work in the body text of a compose window — until I enabled check spelling while I type, even though I have the Capitalize words automatically selected in the Keyboard text panel. In the Subject line, there was not auto-capitalize at all until I used WordService. Over the years, I have just got in the habit of using the shift key for the first character of a sentence, so its absence, at least for me, is not disruptive.

Hey VikingOSX - thanks for the response. Auto-capitalize DOES work in the Mail compose Subject line. And it works in other apps - messages, notes, textedit, etc. The problem I'm experiencing is that it DOES NOT work in the Mail compose body text section. Which is kind of ironic, because it's certainly not very helpful in the (usually quite short) subject line, but would be quite helpful in the (typically lengthy) body text. And for further clarification, it works on my wife's MacBook Air (in the body text of a Mail message).

WordService might be a work-around, but it seems like there is a glitch or bug.
