Big Sur Corrupting Files

I upgraded to Big Sur last week and since then a vast majority of my files are corrupted and will no longer open. What is going on?

This is a disaster. It's costing me a lot of time, money and angst.

It includes word files, excel, mindnode, In Design... across the board.

All of my files are saved via Dropbox so it is not a hard drive corruption issue.

I don't want to have to go back to Dropbox and back date all the files I need.

What other options do I have here?

Thanks Dialabrain!

I can now see that Dropbox is not even active. (not in menu bar at least, plus the application doesn't open.)

Some where along the line it has shut down and won't restart.

This makes sense.

Most recently used files will open but anything past a couple of weeks won't (about 90% of files).

That gives me a new place to look.

It was a dropbox issue. The app had stopped working after upgrading to Big Sur.

I deleted and reinstalled the app and everything is working again - no more corrupt files.

Bit of a scary message 'corrupted files' compared to the fix of 'update or reinstall app'.

So relieved...

I don't know if it will help but make sure you have the latest version of Dropbox. v. 111.4.472
