Audio takes time to fade up in video mode - iPhone 12 pro max

I always have to throw away the first 15 sec of a video because the audio takes time to fade up. How do I fix that?

Hi Johnny!

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities! It sounds as though music/audio gradually increases when you start playing a video on your iPhone. That might be bothersome, if want to keep that same volume. We'll do our best to assist with this, so you can get back to watching those videos.

First, we'd look into 'Reduce Loud Sounds' which might be what's going on here. You can find this in Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Headphone Safety > Reduce Loud Sounds. If enabled, disable it to test. Learn more about this headphone feature and notifications here: Headphone notifications on your iPhone, iPod touch, or Apple Watch

If that doesn't do the trick, does this happen with music? This could be related to the 'Sound Check' feature. To test this, go to Settings > Music > Sound Check: Change the way music sounds on iPhone You can disable it, if it's currently enabled.

Should it persist, have you noticed any common trends when this happens? For example, does it occur when headphones are connected or only in a specific video app? The more we know about what's going on the better we can all assist.

Wishing you the best, take care!

I apologize, I wasn't specific enough. I have an iPhone 12 pro max and the problem is when I try to shoot video. When I hit record the audio is at or close to 0 and slowly ramps up over about 15 seconds. That means I have to hit record, count to 15, then

I can start shooting usable footage. That means this is useless for anything requiring immediate action with audio. It also means I have to edit out the first 15 seconds of every single clip. Is that a flaw with the phone or just a setting I can change that I just don't know about?

Hey Johnny,

If this happens with audio when you record videos on your iPhone, we might be able to help out.

Do you have any updates available for your iPhone 12 Pro Max? They recently released iOS 14.2.1 for the iPhone 12 models. Make sure anything important is backed up, then get it up to date: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch Test it out after this.

Should it persist, then we'd recommend to Contact Apple Support

Hope the update does the trick though. Thanks for the post, cheers!
