Finder "new folder" greyed out
I want to add a new folder to my Finder Favorites.
I go to Finder > File, but New Folder is greyed out.

Click on your Desktop if necessary to get to the Finder—Shift Command N creates a new Folder.
You can name it and drag it to your Favorites sidebar, if that is what you want.

The Sidebar isn’t a storage location. Those items are aliases to folders somewhere on the drive.
You create folders somewhere in your home folder and drag them into the Sidebar to make an alias of the folder.
