I am getting a message that my battery needs help. Is there anything that can be done? How serious is this?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.14

Depends how many charge cycles, Apple thinks 1,000 charges is about ot, so my guess is 3-5 years, but I'd have it replaced as I don't think Apple works on them after 5 years.
