Screen recording takes storage space but not showing in gallery

I was screen recording a webinar in which I was a contributor. I have permission to do recording and all the setting in my iPad should work fine. This was also not my first time in doing the recording. However, I got an issue where the screen recording is not showing in my gallery. The webinar was two hours long and I was attempting to screen record the whole thing.

The thing is, I checked my iPad storage, and there seems to be storage taken for that recording. Initially I had around 100 gb and now I am left with around 70 gb. Previously I managed to save a similar-sized screen recording.

Is there any way to extract this "invisible" screen recording? I know it is somewhere inside my iPad, I just don't know how to get the file.

Hello skeletonwings,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! We see you're not finding a screen recording which was recently made on your iPad, and we'd like to do what we can to help.

Have you restarted your iPad since not being able to locate the recording? If not, go ahead and do that, as a restart can resolve unexpected issues.

Restart your iPad

This article in the iPad User Guide shows that the screen recording should be saved to the Photos app.

Hey skeletonwings,

Thanks for the reply.

Bummer about you not finding that screen recording. Still take a look at the Recently Deleted album in Photos, just in case.

We're not sure if this is related, but this article does mention that "Some apps might not allow you to record audio. You can't record your screen and use screen mirroring at the same time."

How to record the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Take care!
