FB Messenger using cellular data even wifi is ON

Every time i use my fb messenger, it uses my cellular data even if it is turned off. I am using only wifi. My unit is an iphone 11

Messenger not working without wifi recently we transferred our phone from an iPhone 6s+ to an iPhone12. For some reason we can’t use messenger unless we are connected to wifi. In The past we have always used data. We have tried all the helpful suggestions online (rebooting phone, starting & stopping airplane mode), the refresh suggestion, checking to be sure data is checked for both Facebook & messenger. Facebook will open without wifi but not messenger. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Cellular data After updating to version 15.2, my apps don’t work while using cellular data, including text. Works fine on WiFi.

Messenger is not an Apple product. Contact the app developer here --> App Support or Messenger Help Center | Facebook
