I am thinking about getting a new M1 Mac Mini to replace an older 2013 iMac. I also have a 2 27 inch Thunderbolt display. My question is can I use both the Thunderbolt displays with the following setup:
Mac Mini -> Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 Adapter -> Thunderbolt Display 1 -> Thunderbolt Display 2
So basically daisy chain the Thunderbolt displays by plugging 1 into the other. Nothing I read says I cannot do this but want to double check.

Can you confirm that 1 display did in fact work? I just have 1 27" thunderbolt display, but because it's so old, I want to make sure it will still work with the new M1 mac mini. Thank you!
Yes, only one Thunderbolt display works, the second won't work. Is it possible to return my just new Mac Mini M1 because this is really a showstopper?
Best to reach out to Apple or go back to where you bought it. I cancelled my order because of this. Was super excited for M1 but this was a deal breaker for me.
I have an old Mac mini with the same display large square hard wired thunderbolt. New Mac mini’s have small C connector those monitor is didnt us hdmi. So what do we do ? Thanks. Dan
i was hoping to use my old Mac as a monitor with the M1 Mac mini. I’ll just wait to purchase, I guess. I would hope Apple would provide a fix for this...
If it doesn't work, you can always try connecting one with an HDMI - MDP cable.

I can confirm I have successful connected a Thunderbolt Display to a Mac mini M1. You need a thunderbolt 3 to thunderbolt 2 adapter but otherwise it seems to work just fine.
I’m mostly shocked that a brand-new, state-of-the-art M1 can’t do what a late-2012 Mac Mini can do.

I have not. Returned M1, bought a 2018 Mac Mini refurb. Have one TB and some rando HDMI monitor for #2.

Its just not possible so I bought a Dell monitor which uses HDMI (inferior to the thunderbolt unfortunitally)
No, I plugged it all in, like I did with my intel MBA for the last 10 years, nothing happened on the second screen. So I'm down to the new MBA and the one 27" TB Display. Bummer, but I'll manage:)
