Audio interfaces to M1 mac mini?
I can't get any audio interfaces to work with new M1 mac mini. I've tried Thunderbolt and USB.

Hello databanka,
It looks like no one has responded to your question. Here are a couple things that might help others respond to you:
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Take care.
I've been researching the Mac mini-UMC404HD compatibility question all day Brand new Mini suddenly, no interface showing..tried all kinds of fixes..Plugged in my 2ch focusrite..
I also use a UMC1820 That I'm assuming won't be seen either. Guess I'm shopping for a focusrite with 8 inputs
From what I've read online, USB class compliant audio interfaces seem to be working but not Thunderbolt audio interfaces on the M1 machines. My Apogee Element 88 and 46 units didn't work and were not recognised by Logic Pro X or by the Apogee Element software itself though the light on them came on. Apogee says compatibility with the M1 machines would be available in July-August 2021.
I tested my Line 6 HX Stomp guitar effects unit, which also functions as an audio interface on my M1 MacBook Pro and luckily it worked fine in Logic Pro X and was recognised as an input/ output device. So I can record ideas for now with good sound quality. Of course the Line 6 HX Edit software for editing patches etc. was very slow and sluggish so Line 6 needs to update that for the M1.
I guess all the manufacturers are working on making their products compatible with the M1 machines.
I have an Roland Edirol FA-101 FireWire interface, works without problems from os9 (with driver) and all OSX versions up till now on my Mac Mini M1 (thunderbolt 3>2>FireWire adapter) without installing any driver! 🤩
My Steinberg UR44 was working Class Compliant until I installed the USB driver and software from Yamaha, since then it’s recognized by system and Yamaha’s DSP but not by sound manager or Logic X. Uninstalling brought no juice! 🤬
"You will need to contact the audio interface manufacture."
In the old days the above response is what we referred to as a "copout"...
I use an ART USB Dual Pre audio interface without issue with Big Sur 11.1 and Logic 10.6...
I had an old usb powered Focusrite audio interface laying around that I tried out with my new Mac mini M1 a couple of days ago. Worked fine when doing a quick mic and headphone test.
You will need to contact the audio interface manufacture.
Check on this link, They just updated on 21 Dec. https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/macos-11-big-sur-compatibility-guide/
Was it a FireWire focus right such as a sapphire pro 40?
ive emailed them but havent got an answer..:(
I also have a M-Audio FastTrack Pro, it works fine. No drivers.
I don't think you should have any issues with this since it works with USB and BT , see Sound in/Out and Under system info /USB if your sound interface recognized and connected.
Painless, thank you 🙏 🤞
Simple, use an audient id22 audio usb interface with the latest drivers. Works perfect with big sur 11.1 and logic 10.6.1. Thats what I use without any problems.
