Apple Watch 6 - No device capable of audio playback connected.

When I try to play music through my bluetooth earbuds, Siri tells me (through the allegedly disconnected earbuds) "No device capable of audio playback connected."

They show as connected in the bluetooth device list.

They work fine for everything but music.

I updated the OS on the watch this morning.

I turned off my phone.

After some googling , it looks like this has been a bug for YEARS, and nobody seems to have a solution This is pretty freaking major too.... and I really feel screwed after dropping 500 bucks on a watch, and being able to have music without my phone was a major reason why. Ruined what was otherwise a pretty cool ownership experience.

It even worked once. I have no idea why it stopped. This is a terrible customer experience.

I haven't ever seen apple reps respond here, but does anybody know where I can go for support? I am not near an apple store.

Hello SomeGuyFromIpanema,

We'd love to assist you with getting your Bluetooth headphones working with your Apple Watch. Does these same headphones connect to your paired iPhone and play music properly without a problem?

Also, have you forgotten the Bluetooth connection on your Apple Watch and attempt to set it up again using the steps here: Connect Apple Watch to Bluetooth headphones or speakers ?

Best regards

I’m in the same boat. I have an Apple Watch 6 LTE and when I try to use my Bluetooth headphones I hear(through the headphones) “There is no device capable of audio playback”. Which is absurd since I’m hearing it through the headphones.

And I’m in the same boat as you. The closest apple store to me is a 3.5 hour drive. This is a slap in the face which definitely ruins a otherwise great device. This is a $860(CAD) watch which I cannot use my headphones with, which was the main reason I got the LTE version; So I could do my walks and runs without having to have my phone with me.
