iPhone 12 - car connection issues

I just connected my new iPhone 12 to my car that has Bluetooth and CarPlay. There were two issues that came from this that previously worked with my iPhone 8...

1. Contacts will not download to the car even though I checked off the button in settings that says “sync contacts.” (See image below)

2. When usb connected, CarPlay shows up and mostly works, but when I make phone calls, people can’t hear me.

Please help! I’ve searched for solutions on Google and nothing it working.

Perhaps there is an issue with iOS 14.2.1? This is what I am currently running and there are no new updates as of yet.

Hello Costes116,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities, and it appears there are issues with contacts syncing over Bluetooth. We'll do what we can to help.

These might help with both issues:

  • On your iPhone, turn Bluetooth off then back on before connecting to your vehicle again.
  • Restart your iPhone
  • Reset the Bluetooth connection with your vehicle
  • If your vehicle has any firmware updates, be sure to install them. You may have to contact the car manufacturer to complete this.
  • Rename the iPhone in Settings > General > About

Thanks.
