Desktop Icons disappeared

After updating to Catalina, all my desktop icons disappeared. How do I restore them?

While in the Desktop to to the View menu and select Show View Options. There make sure this checkbox is checked:

You may have to repeat this for each folder that does not show the previews.

Desktop icons reset position after restart I'm really frustrated by having to move my desktop icons back every time I reboot. Whenever I reboot my Mac all of the icons move over to the right side of the screen in alphabetical order. This is my work computer and have many files, folders, & network servers I access multiple times throughout the day. I like to have them arranged on the desktop in a way that suits my workflow. This problem first occurred with the installation of macOS Mojave 10.14. I hoped updating to 10.15 Catalina would fix the problem, but it didn't. When I googled the issue, I found some older posts recommending deleting the com.apple.desktop.plist file, but that file no longer exists. I'm hoping there is a similar way to reset the desktop icon preferences. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
