There is no direct feature or a switch to setup auto text replies. There is a work around with a little bit of a hassle. See below:
Unfortunately, neither SMS nor most messaging apps – including iMessage – allow you to send automated texts without your input to send each time.
There may be a workaround for what you are trying to accomplish and that is with the use of DO NOT DISTURB WHILE DRIVING MODE. Go to Settings-->Do Not Disturb and then scroll all the way down to the Do Not Disturb While Driving section. Set activate to Manually. Auto-Reply to All Contacts. And finally Auto-Reply where you can customize your auto response.
Now when you need to use Auto-Reply then you can manually activate Do Not Disturb While Driving from the Control Center (Display control center by pulling down from the top right corner on your screen and tapping on the car icon). All incoming messages will then get your customized auto-response. Turn the mode OFF when you want to stop using Auto-Reply.
Yes it is a workaround and you will need to remember to turn this mode ON and then OFF.
Furthermore, if you want to suggest this feature to Apple then please leave feedback here ➔ Product Feedback - Apple

Thanks this is a serviceable work around for sure. The only issue is that to do it, you essentially need to disable your phone while it’s on since “driving mode” restricts all basic functions. I can’t under stand for the life of me why Apple does not create this feature. For managing work/personal calls, it’s a no brainer! Thanks again for taking the time to reply I will put it in use.
You are welcome.
I occasionally use it when I enter long drawn out meetings at work. The thought process here is to ensure that those who message me are at least getting a scripted response which tells them that I have received the message and will read later.
