Camera not working in Big Sur

Just updated to 11.2 - zero change.

Camera still "No video capture devices were found" in System Report.

We must all help Apple by informing them about the camera-issue related to the Big Sur update.

I have written directly to Apple https://www.apple.com/feedback/ and mentioned @AppleSupport on Twitter.

It doesn't work, at least for me.

Try to plug and unplug from AC again... you will see how the issue will come back.

got one question for you... do you run or have anti virus or any kind of cleaners? could it be related?

I'm 98% sure that a software update won't damage hardware; it might just be a fluke that it happened during the update.

This worked for me:

Route 1 - verify that "camera is allowed" for your user account:

System Preferences (window)

Screen Time (icon)

Content & Privacy (left panel)

Apps (tab)

Allow (section): Camera

Route 2 - Update to Big Sur 11.1

Tip: update in Safe Mode (hold Shift key while booting). Don't rely on the "15 minutes install time", it will take 1+ hour, if you have an encrypted disk, be patient :-)

I just updated OS to Big Sur - I cannot access the camera on my laptop and on Zoom and FaceTime. I need assistance fixing this problem, as i've been searching and finding that i'm not the only one having this issue and I've tried the suggestions with no success. I'm a teacher and need to teach online with my laptop camera. I use a macbook pro 16

Very disappointed when I have no camera for almost month for remote-working.

I keep looking into anything related to camera inside MacBook, and found something strange: there is a process running as "AppleCameraAssistant" when my SystemReport/Hardware/Camera showed: "No video capture devices were found."

So how this happened and is it normal?? May be this is a hint for a solve?

I did that, but it didn't help. I work remotely and use MacBook Pro regularly coding and presenting the code always with Microsoft Teams, and I need the Camera support. Now I must go back to the company-provided Lenovo ThinkPad to join Teams.

I also lost my camera functionality after Big Sur 11.1 installed. I tried two hours worth of suggestions with no luck. The camera is listed as a device but not recognized by any programs that need it including Zoom and FaceTime.

Please help as the camera is needed now more than ever for work and personal contacts!

sorry no solution here. just sharing that I thought I was alone. I have a 13in MBP 2017 TouchBar. Since bigsur upgrade the webcam just stopped working.

I have tried the usual recommendations:

1. Reset SMC
2. Reset NVRAM and PRAM.
3. SafeMode
4. fresh Big Sur install

I use my camera every work day, I remember clearly it stopped working right after updating to bigsur... not nice Apple :-(

I turned on my. 2019 MBP last night to discover the same issue. I have been running Big Sur since it was originally released and only experienced this problem last night. Talked to support and updated my software. rebooted. went into safe mode force quit through terminal and nothing seems to be fixing the problem. I really do not want to send it in for an appointment as classes resume on Monday through zoom.

Anyone have any luck yet?

With me, I can see the Built In Camera in Hardware. I can also "see" the Camera in FaceTime. And the camera light goes green - but there is no picture :-( For example -in FaceTime there is a "blink" but the picture stays black and FaceTime gives a message: FaceTime has not received any video from the connected camera
