Blue Yeti X Mic & Big Sur / M1 Macbooks - Error trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI

Hey guys - so I recently got one of the snazzy new M1 Macbooks and simultaneously upgraded to Big Sur and have been getting this error repeatedly with my Blue Yeti X microphone: "Error while trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI" (working out of Garageband)

Have tried everything under the sun, including trying the mic with a windows and older macbook air (both work fine), restarting, software updates, etc. Seems like a Blue Yeti software compatibility with Big Sur, but not sure if anyone else is experiencing this as well.

Has anyone else been experiencing this issue (with the Yeti or other devices?)

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.0

Yeti Microphone Issues With M1 Mac - Apple Community

The link above is the issue I am having, the mic is detected, but the sound echos/repeats. Sometimes it goes fast and sounds like a chipmunk. When I press record, the second counter goes crazy. Recording a 5 second clip then saves as a repeating/echoing 30 second clip. Still can't find any answers.

Just as an update to those who chose the Blue Yeti X due to its software... i installed and tested Krisp to aid in noise cancelation and that works without issue on the M1 mac and the Yeti X. So if you are wanting the noise cancelation features of Blue Voice, Krisp seems to be a decent option until this get resolved (hopefully soon). Not endorsing Krisp by any means, just reporting back that i finally found something decent that helps with background noise elimination.

Ok, so I saw a suggestion elsewhere on google to reset the PRAM to solve this issue. Because I've almost never seen this work or fix anything I went ahead and tried it...and it fixed the issue!

Shut down your computer and start it back up while holding down command-option-p-r

Hold those keys down until you get a second startup chime and then let them go.

When I booted back in and went to sound preferences the Yeti Blue mic was showing again

I tried the Blue Yeti X mic on Big Sur and a Mac mini M1. At first the microphone showed up but there was no sound coming out of the speakers. I tried installing the G Hub from Logitech. I could hear one-second loops of what I recorded, and it did not want to record for longer....

Then I managed to make the sound output work and it would not work live at all. When playing back what I recorded in a voice memo, the playback was messed up with so many artifacts in-between. On Logic, the microphone worked but the sample rate was messed up it seems because the recording sounded like a chipmunk...Isn't the yeti capable of doing 44,100Hz ?

Afterwards I installed the Blue yeti Sherpa App to try to see if I needed a firmware upgrade on the mic. Except after I did so, the microphone vanished from the input/output in Audio Devices... and with it, so did my computer's internal mic! I can't even choose it as an option as input anymore. I went on the support website of Blue Yeti and the page just reloads constantly so I can't even reach them!

I'm sure if I reset PRAM, the mic would reappear as an input/output but then I'll have the same issue as before with the playback...Until they update this, it is really incompatible with M1 and Big Sur combination. I will be returning this mic and going to use an audio interface with a real microphone!

I THINK IT'S FIXED.

So I tried to reset the PRAM by holding command-option-p-r at power on, but it didn't seem to do anything (apparently you should hear the startup chime twice as if the system restarts again) and I still had the same problem.

Today I tried the same thing with the microphone plugged in and it worked. Blue Sherpa opens automatically for me and at startup I saw a brief "Logitech Updater" open and close in the bottom right of the task bar and the microphone now works great.

Either Blue updated the firmware in the past 24 hours or that PRAM reset with the mic plugged in worked.

This is SUPER frustrating. It better be fixed before I need to record classes for Winter 2021 term.

Yeti worked great on previous Macbook Pro, but not with the new MacBook Pro with M1 and Big Sur.

I tried resetting the PRAM with the Yeti connected. After startup, the Yeti works fine.

But then the Logitech Hub tells me to disconnect and reconnect the Yeti, after which the problems recur.

But if it is true that M1 does not allow manual PRAM reset, maybe simply starting the computer with the Yeti connected will solve the problems in the short term.

So plugging in the mic and restarting the computer works in order to get the mic to work with basic functions. But as soon as I open the G software to get into Blue Voice, the mic no longer works. I have to restart the computer and I once again get basic functions. Has anyone been able to get Blue Voice software to work with an M1 Mac?
