Hello lisabitt,

Thanks for following up with us. We understand having issues using the AirDrop feature between your iPhone, and your Mac, and getting the message "AirDrop Declined"

Next, let's try the following steps:

  • Turn off Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth on your iPhone.
  • Turn off Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth on your Mac
  • Restart both devices
  • Turn Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth back on both devices, and test

If that didn't help, the next step we would like to try is, resetting your network settings on your iPhone. You can do this by going to: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Keep in mind, this also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

If the issue persists, we'd recommend contacting Apple Support to investigate this issue further. You can reach out to them here:

Hello lisabitt,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It looks like AirDrop stopped working between your Mac and your iPhone. We'd be happy to look into this with you.

Which Mac model, and macOS version are you using? Apple > About This Mac.

Which iPhone model, and iOS version are you using? Settings > General > About.

Also, what is the exact error you're getting when you try to use AirDrop? Are you experiencing this behavior with specific file, or multiple?

Hi lisabitt,

Thanks for getting back to us with those additional details. We understand the concern of having issues using AirDrop between your Mac, and iPhone, and we'd be happy to look into this more.

To better understand the situation, could you please share with us the error you're getting when you try to use AirDrop? Are you having issues sending files from your Mac to the iPhone, from the iPhone to the Mac or both? Does both devices able to see each other or not? Also, do you have "Do Not Disturb" turned on any of those devices? Did you recently installed any firewalls on your Mac?

iOS 14.3 was recently released, so if you haven’t updated to that, let’s do so now.
