menu bar date and time
Suddenly day of the week, date, and time have faded into nothingness on my menu bar. Settings look to be normal. Using Mac OS Big Sur - I've a screen shot of it but can't seem to attach it here.

i have found that if you remove the "do not disturb" icon from the menubar, the clock appears dim.
if you re-add the icon to the menubar, the clock returns to normal darkness.
to add the icon to the menubar, open "control centre" and drag the "do not disturb" icon and drop it onto the menubar.
have fun.

I cannot reproduce this on Big Sur 11.0.1 on an M1 mini, and I have a color calibrated 4K HDMI/HDR screen. Don't know how to correct it, as it should be regular dark text as mine shows, regardless of the lighter wallpaper color choice.
What happens to that faded date when you visit System Preferences : Accessibility : Display and select Reduce transparency?
No. I was having trouble disabling Do Not Disturb though, and once disabled, the dimness of time and date occurred. When I restarted the laptop, it froze when booting up and I had to force another restart.
Did you click the Control Center menu bar item, and then click on Do Not Disturb? That should take you to System Preferences : Notifications : Do Not Disturb. Do you have Turn on Do Not Disturb √ From: [ time ] to: [ time ] enabled? That might be dimming your date/time on you.
Use the circled tool on this editor's toolbar to open a file chooser to upload your screen capture.
The change happened suddenly today. It’s been exactly how you described it. I’ve restarted the MacBook Pro twice with no change.
Did you install and run any new software yesterday or today that could have contributed to that suddenly effect?
I do not have the Do Not Disturb icon in my menu bar and the clock appears normal.
Thank you!! That was it exactly. It's fine now.
The Do Not Disturb settings are very confusing. All I want to do is to turn it off completely, and in Sys. Prefs., I thought I had. Thanks again.
You are welcome.
you're welcome. thanks for the "this solved my question". but i would look into VikingOSX's response as well. he doesn't have the icon and yet his clock is normal darkness.
Thanks for the tip about the do not disturb icon. That solved it for me.
