Kindle app on my iPad allows me to read current book only! it freezes immediately I try to get to anything other than turn page!!!

Since this problem appears to have started several years ago why have Apple and Kindle not sorted it out? I have uninstalled the app on my iPad 9.7 inch with current latest iOS. This fails to rectify the problem and the same can be said for re-starting the iPad. Does anyone have an actual solution?
