I reset my Apple Watch and am trying to pair it again, however, I now have to update my Apple Watch. When I go to software update on the watch app it says that I am not connected to WiFi even though I am and won’t let me pair my watch.

How do I pair my watch and update it at the same time?

The update will happen automatically during pairing so you don’t need to worry about that part. It sounds like your initial problem is to convince your iPhone it is connected via WiFi. Check you are not blocked by a firewall or one of those weird hotel-type WiFi gateways which demand you go through a web authentication.

For a simple proof your iPhone has WiFi access just turn off the cellular data for a few minutes and go to a web page. If you don’t get the expected page you know the WiFi is not behaving as expected.
